Job Description: Clinical Psychologist in Oncology Services

About the Role

To provide high-quality clinical psychology services to adults with cancer referred to the oncology service at the RUH.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Work: Work as a Clinical Psychologist within the multidisciplinary team, holding a specialist caseload of patients.
  • Assessments and Interventions: Undertake complex level 3 and 4 clinical assessments and interventions.
  • Psychological Support: Improve the psychological health and wellbeing of people under the care of the oncology team.
  • Supervision: Receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy and Professional Practice Guidelines.
  • Patient Care: Work with both inpatient and outpatient adults with cancer, delivering evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidelines.
  • Expert Therapies: Provide expert psychological therapies in oncology services, developing specialist psychological assessments and formulations, and implementing specialist psychological interventions.
  • Communication: Communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner with clients and colleagues, delivering complex and sensitive information concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of clients.
  • Guidance and Consultation: Provide advice, guidance, and consultation on psychological aspects of patient care to colleagues, other service providers, patients, supporters, and families.
  • Reflective Practice: Support and guide in the application of psychological principles and techniques, fostering reflective practice.
