Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Opportunity

Are you an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is looking to work in a dedicated team? An opportunity has arisen to join the Adult Psychology Service within Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. The job is based with Poole CMHT at Alderney Hospital.

About the Role

As a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will be solely accountable and responsible for the direct delivery of psychological services to adults with significant mental illness/disorder. You will be skilled in assessment, formulation, and in the delivery of appropriate highly specialised psychological therapies, where highly complex facts must be considered, and where expert opinion may differ. You will provide highly specialised advice to clients, their families, and carers where appropriate, and to the wider multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct delivery of psychological services to adults with significant mental illness/disorder.
  • Be skilled in assessment, formulation, and delivery of highly specialised psychological therapies.
  • Provide highly specialised advice to clients, their families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Undertake clinically relevant research and audit evaluation.
  • Supervise the research & development activities of Assistants and Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
  • Develop highly specialised programmes of care, making judgements involving highly complex facts or situations.
  • Share sensitive information with clients, their carers, and other professionals.
  • Receive regular highly specialised supervision in common with good practice guidelines.

About the Team

The role is diverse and allows opportunities to develop your own individual therapy skills, work on service development, continue with your professional development, and work with a range of skilled professionals who are all passionate about working with adults. The Adult Psychology Service is committed to supporting its staff's development by providing high-quality training and supervision opportunities as well as regular opportunities for staff to connect, support, and learn from each other.

Job Details

  • Hours: Part-time, 19 hours per week; flexible working is available.
  • Location: Poole CMHT at Alderney Hospital.

Requirements

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required. The Trust will cover the cost of this.
