Clinical Psychologist (CYP ASD Service)

Clinical Psychologist – CYP ASD Assessment Specialist

About the Role This critical role focuses on delivering high-quality autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments for children and young people (CYP) within a structured, multidisciplinary pathway. The position requires strict adherence to NICE guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and service-specific requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive developmental histories and psychological assessments using validated tools (e.g., ADOS-2).
  • Contribute expert opinions to multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions to inform diagnostic decisions.
  • Produce detailed, diversity-affirming reports and engage sensitively with families to explain outcomes.
  • Uphold safeguarding protocols, governance frameworks, and service improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist with HCPC registration.
  • Prior experience in CYP neurodevelopmental assessments, particularly in MDT settings.
  • Proven skills in formulation, reasoning, and report-writing.
