Lead the future of compassionate, personalised maternity care.
We are seeking an exceptional and motivated Clinical Quality, Standards and Culture Lead Midwife to join our senior midwifery leadership team. This pivotal role will shape clinical quality, professional standards and culture across our maternity services, driving improvements that make a real difference for women, birthing people, babies, families and staff.
Working closely with the Director, Deputy Director of Midwifery and Head of Midwifery, you will provide expert leadership to strengthen midwife-led care pathways and support safe, effective, compassionate and inclusive care. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and service users to deliver evidence-based, person-centred improvements aligned to national guidance, regulatory requirements and Trust priorities.
This dynamic Trust-wide role spans both York and Scarborough Hospitals. You will help align teams, improve consistency and promote high-quality care across both sites. Through collaborative working, shared learning and a strong focus on culture, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding maternity services across our organisation and wider health system.
If you are a passionate and forward-thinking midwifery leader ready to influence quality, culture and standards at scale, we would love to hear from you. You will be supported by the Director and Deputy Director of Midwifery, with opportunities for coaching, mentoring and exposure to senior organisational leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
