About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Nurse Manager to join our York Clinical Research Site.

Job Summary

The Research Nurse Manager will:

  • Act as part of the site leadership team, supporting the Site Manager in profit and loss optimisation.
  • Ensure the clinical area of the research site provides a high-quality and safe clinical research environment.
  • Initiate and manage nursing activities related to clinical trials, from initiation to termination, in accordance with ICH/GCP guidelines.
  • Ensure the commercial success of the site by recruiting and maintaining optimal patient numbers.
  • Provide professional leadership to all direct reports.
  • Ensure training, professional development, and supervision of the team.

  • ** Keep the commercial success of the site forefront in mind without compromising patient care.**
  • Manage nursing activities relating to clinical trials, from startup to close out, adhering to ICH/GCP guidelines.
  • Drive quality assurance measures and implement appropriate policies to enhance clinical research activity and ensure successful business delivery.
  • Exercise meticulous attention to detail when collecting, recording, safety reporting, and verifying study data.
  • Monitor trends and share best practice within the team.
  • Promote a professional, welcoming, and pleasant environment for staff and participants to ensure effective team collaboration.
  • Provide professional leadership to foster a positive working culture.
  • Facilitate communication by participating in regular:
    • Clinical team meetings
    • Multidisciplinary meetings
    • Project strategy meetings
    • Feasibility assessments
    • Core study meetings
  • Review research protocols and coordinate training and education requirements for clinical staff.
  • Attend:
    • Pre-study site selection visits
    • Site initiation visits for new studies
    • Updates on changes in study protocols
  • Conduct patient interest visits (chats) effectively, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the study protocol.
  • Optimise patient retention by keeping participants engaged throughout the study.
  • Ensure the clinical team regularly checks the emergency trolley and takes the lead on initiating emergency procedures, including:
    • Cardiac arrest management
    • Anaphylaxis response
    • Fire incidents
    • Critical incident response
  • Oversee laboratory activities and have the capability to conduct laboratory duties as required per study terms.
