Job Description

About NHS Scotland

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Position Details

Fixed Term for 3 years

Applications are invited from candidates with a First or Upper Second Class BSc Honours Degree in Genetics or an appropriate biological subject as a minimum for entry to the NHS Scotland post-graduate training scheme for Genomics and Molecular Pathology. A training post is available in the Regional Genetic Laboratory Service, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee from September 2026. The laboratory provides a high-quality genomic testing service for NHS Tayside and the rest of Scotland through the Scottish Genomic Strategic Network. The Dundee laboratory offers high standards in terms of facilities and expertise to support trainees. Training will follow an agreed training programme framework, which will enable the trainee to build a portfolio of evidence for assessment and subsequent registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
