Join our team and play a vital role at the heart of patient care! This is an exciting opportunity to join the Oncology Team at Glangwili General Hospital.

In this rewarding position, you’ll work closely with the department’s medical secretary to deliver a high-quality administrative and secretarial service, supporting clinical staff in providing excellent care. You’ll manage and maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality, handling sensitive information such as clinical correspondence and test results with professionalism.

You’ll also have the opportunity to step up and take the lead when needed, providing essential cover in the absence of the medical secretary and ensuring the service continues to run smoothly.

If you’re organised, reliable, and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference every day.

Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will be required to support the delivery of a comprehensive and quality secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams and support the Medical Secretaries.

You will undertake a wide-range of duties including receipt and distribution of mail, audio transcription, and the typing of highly sensitive letters and reports, maintaining confidentiality at all times, in addition to operation of the Health Board’s patient database system. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisation skills and be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work. You must be able to work on your initiative, use tact and diplomacy where appropriate and possess excellent communication skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
