About the Role

We are seeking a permanent, part-time Senior Clinical Lecturer to serve as Academic Lead for Phase 2 OSCEs (Object Structured Clinical Examinations covering years 3 and 4 of the undergraduate medical programme) for a 4-year tenure, with potential extension.

The role involves leading the design, delivery, quality management, and enhancement of Phase 2 OSCEs whilst contributing to related teaching within the Brunel Medical School.

The Academic Lead will be a core member of the medical education team, reporting to the Dean of Brunel Medical School.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide educational leadership for Phase 2 OSCEs (years 3 and 4), ensuring their alignment with National Examining Board’s (NEB) guidelines.
  • Design, deliver, and optimise OSCE content, assessments, and teaching strategies for the .osc clinic-based evaluation of clinical skills.
  • Oversee the implementation, quality assurance, and continuous enhancement of the OSCE programme.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and examiners to develop assessment frameworks and evaluate student performance.
  • Contribute to Team-Based Learning (TBL), personal tutoring, Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI), and GMC accreditation processes.
  • Foster an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) approach in all teaching and assessment activities.
  • Participate in institutional research projects and quality improvement initiatives relevant to medical education.
  • Act as a senior clinical educator by supporting exam design, invigilation, and moderation.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • GMC-registered clinician with a licence to practise (from either a general practice or hospital-based background).
  • Demonstrated educational leadership in undergraduate medical education, ideally within a university-affiliated setting.
  • Experience in programme design, delivery, and assessment of clinical skills education, particularly in OSCEs.
  • Skilled in TBL, formative & summative assessment, and advancing student-centred learning.
  • Familiarity with digital assessment tools and emerging technologies in medical education.
  • Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK for the duration of employment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in leading educational innovation (e.g., curriculum review and assessment redesign).
  • Participation in interprofessional teaching or collaboration within allied health sectors.
  • Experience in handling programmatic assessment and accruing credible educational outcomes.
  • Country subsidise/teach/examine varied disciplines (e.g., paediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, or primary care).
  • Teaching certification or faculty development expertise.
