Job Summary

Role: Clinical Senior Occupational Therapist Location: Gawler East, Gawler Health Service Shift: Part-time (0.5 FTE), Ongoing Salary: AHP3 – $112,139–$120,284 p.a. (adjusted to actual hours worked)

About the Role

This Clinical Senior Occupational Therapist position leads high-quality occupational therapy services within the Emergency Department. You will:

  • Ensure patients receive appropriate functional and environmental assessment linked to their clinical presentation.
  • Support safe and timely discharge plans.
  • Offer advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring, workforce development, quality improvement, and research.
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to integrate OT services across the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network.
  • Engage in non-consumer-facing roles, strengthening occupational therapy and social work practices across the network.

How Will You Contribute?

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, including:

    • Functional screens and interventions
    • Collaborative discharge planning
    • Impact assessments of illness or injury on independence
    • Support implementation to improve safety and functionality pre-discharge
  • Facilitate safe patient transitions from hospital to home, reducing readmission risk.

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to OT and allied health staff.

  • Drive evidence-based practice, contributing to quality improvement projects, research, and workforce strategies.
