Medical Staffing Officer (Emergency Quadrant & Department)
Location: Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), North Wales

About the Role
With support from Senior Managers and Clinicians, the post-holder will be responsible for the daily operational management of medical staffing issues and rota co-ordination.
Key Aspects of the Role:
- Develop, coordinate, and manage all medical rotas within the directorate.
- Work within the Emergency Quadrant and Emergency Department with support from Medical Workforce.
Objectives:
- Maintain a good working knowledge and understanding of the terms and conditions of junior medical working patterns.
- Handle the day-to-day administration of medical staffing issues within the ED/EQ, including prospective cover arrangements.
- Proactively identify potential shortages of cover (either for on-call or ward work) and implement solutions in collaboration with Senior Managers, Consultant medical staff, junior medical teams, and the medical staffing department.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, though Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Administer medical staffing issues for the Emergency Department (ED) and Emergency Quadrant (EQ).
- Coordinate to ensure effective rota management under clinical guidance.
- Generate monthly duty rosters for all medical & management staff within the Emergency Quadrant.
- Monitor and maintain the On-going Out of Hours rota for medical and management staff.
- Represent the role as a key staffing resource working with the Unscheduled Care (USC) Management Team in ad hoc projects as required.
Person Specification
Educational Criteria
Essential:
- Educated to degree level OR significant equivalent experience.
Desirable:
- Relevant Management qualification (e.g., ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) Level 4), National Examination Board (NEB)
Professional Experience
Essential:
- Experience of allocating staffing resources.
- Experience of developing staff rotas.
Desirable:
- Previous experience of working with clinical staff.
Personal Attributes
Essential:
- Ability to coordinate and alter complex work schedules.
- Ability to communicate important information clearly and accurately to all grades of medical personnel.
