Clinical Specialist in Chronic Pain Management – Job Description
Job Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a flexible, dynamic, experienced, and capable Chartered Physiotherapist to undertake the role of Clinical Specialist in Chronic Pain Management within the East area of North Wales.
Pain Services have long embraced a multi-professional approach to managing chronic pain. Physiotherapy is one of several professions contributing a comprehensive skill-set to the clinical team and plays a key role in delivering pain management techniques and approaches within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB).
The post holder will:
- Work as an autonomous clinical specialist practitioner, with an extended scope of physiotherapy practice.
- Collaborate within a team to deliver a clinical specialist service to patients referred to the chronic pain service.
- Provide support and teaching to Pain Team members and therapy colleagues across wider services.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality service within the own physiotherapy sub-specialism across BCUHB.
- Assessment and management of complex patients.
- Development of opportunities for practice that extend the scope of traditional physiotherapy.
- Training and support of physiotherapists and support staff to ensure high-quality, evidence-based service provision.
- Governance arrangements within the sub-specialty area.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, but applications are equally welcome from Welsh and English speakers.

Professional Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- BSc / Grad Dip Physiotherapy
- HCPC registered
- Obtained or working towards MSc in an appropriate subject
Desirable Criteria
- Member of a relevant Special Interest Group
- Qualification in Management/Leadership
Professional Experience
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience of working at a senior clinical level
- Demonstrable experience of professional teaching
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working

- Experience of lecturing
