Johnson & Johnson has announced plans to separate its Orthopaedics business, establishing it as a standalone company, DePuy Synthes. This transition is expected to be completed in 18–24 months, subject to:
- Legal requirements
- Employee consultation
- Regulatory approvals
- And other customary conditions
Should this role be accepted, following the transaction, your employment will transition to DePuy Synthes, with all pertinent benefits, policies, and processes clearly communicated at the appropriate time.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Specialist – Robotics & Orthopaedics (Lancashire) to join our team. In this trusted and impactful role, you will:
- Support key surgical programmes, including VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution and ATTUNE™ Knee System.
- Drive adoption, implementation, and utilisation of robotic technologies in orthopaedic surgery.
- Build strong relationships with orthopaedic surgeons, surgeons, theatre teams, and hospital stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
🩺 Clinical & Technical Support
- Provide expert in-theatre support for DePuy Synthes products, including VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution and related technologies.
- Assist consultants, nursing staff, and surgical teams in ensuring safe, effective, and optimal use of devices.
- Deliver informed clinical guidance on indications, surgical techniques, and procedural applications.
- Cover orthopaedic and robotic-assisted cases across assigned territories.

🤖 Robotics Programme Development
- Support the launch, activation, and growth of robotic programmes across Lancashire.
- Aid surgeons and theatre teams through robotic learning curves and workflow implementation.
- Drive case volume, activation, and adoption via training, workflow optimization, and clinical support.
👥 Customer & Account Development
- Provide exceptional customer service with case planning, stock management, and account support.
- Build strong partnerships with:
- Surgeons
- Theatre staff
- EM&P (Equipment, Maintenance & Procurement) teams
- Service leads
- Hospital decision-makers
- Support account development and long-term customer partnerships.
🎓 Education & Training
- Coordinate clinical education, training sessions, and KOL (Key Opinion Leader) engagement activities.
- Develop and facilitate programs such as:
- Medical education sessions
- Cadaveric workshops
- Robotic training events
- Consultant engagement initiatives
💼 Business & Commercial Support
- Work alongside Territory Managers and sales teams to:
- Identify and develop growth opportunities.
- Promote the broader orthopaedic portfolio, digital solutions, and enabling technologies.
- Support achievement of territory objectives, account plans, and business targets.
📊 Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Maintain accurate CRM records, account plans, and reporting.
- Track robotic pipeline development, training completion, and operational activities.
- Ensure compliance with Johnson & Johnson’s Healthcare Compliance Standards and Company Credo values.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Clinical, healthcare, biomedical, sports science, nursing, physiotherapy, operating theatre, or related degree/background.
- Experience in orthopaedics, medical devices, healthcare technology, or clinical support environments.
- Strong communication & presentation skills with the ability to build relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
- High organisation and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel extensively to support surgical procedures in hospital environments.

Desirable (But Not Mandatory) Experiences
- Supporting robotic-assisted surgical technologies.
- Orthopaedic theatre experience, especially knee reconstruction.
- Medical device sales or account management exposure.
