Clinical Support Specialist

Clinical Support Specialist (IMS) – North Region

About Us

STERIS is a global leader in infection prevention, decontamination, surgical and critical care technologies. STERIS Instrument Management Services (IMS) specialises in independent repair of medical devices, research on surgical instruments, and institutional repair services.

As a Clinical Support Specialist (IMS), you’ll manage and grow relationships with vital UK clients. Based in the North Region, this role will include regular business travel (4 days/week) to various UK locations, including Northampton for division visits. A full clean driving licence is required. Steris provides a company car.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Territory Managers and Customers to analyse needs and deliver customised solutions.
  • Develop and deliver CPD-accredited Customer training on-site.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and instrument inventory evaluations per contract terms.
  • Perform 360° scripted evaluations to provide Customer sales support and commercial reporting.
  • Design high-impact presentations for multi-level audiences (Clinicians, Directors, Managers).
  • Maintain the STERIS IMS CRM system to document Client activities and data.
  • Support new initiatives, including commercial strategies and contract implementation.
  • Utilise market research to identify growth opportunities, improve Customer engagement, and increase sales penetration.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new products, and Customer requirements.
  • Assist Trade Shows and provide Customer support for vacant territories if required.

Required Experience

  • Experience within Endoscopy, Surgical Theatre, or Sterile Services departments.
  • Proven Customer-focused attitude—understanding and meeting Client needs (strong conflict resolution skills).
  • Passionate about training delivery (for both internal and external audiences).
  • Highly collaborative—ability to identify Customer needs through teamwork.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with self-management and minimal supervision tolerance.
  • Highly adaptable—flexible scheduling to meet Client demands.
  • Resilience for fast-paced environments—ability to sustain long working hours.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, able to prioritise workloads and manage projects while communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to embed and demonstrate company values (Customer focus, integrity, teamwork, professionalism, accountability).
