Job Opportunity: Band 2 Clinical Support Worker – Ward 230 (Gastroenterology & Hepatology)
Location: University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust
- Royal Stoke Hospital (Stoke-on-Trent)
- County Hospital (Stafford)
About the Role
Currently, University Hospitals of North Midlands cannot offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles due to UKVI salary/skill thresholds.
Ward 230 is a 36-bedded specialist unit in gastroenterology and hepatology.
This flexible Band 2 Clinical Support Worker post requires rapid, adaptable support across a broad range of services. Staff work on a week-by-week variable-hour basis within agreed limits, adhering to the Trust’s Code of Conduct for Clinical Support Workers.

Responsibilities & Duties
Patient Care & Communication
- Receive, support, and guide patients, visitors, and staff with calm, professional courtesy.
- Communicate sensitive patient information with clarity and empathy, using tact and reassurance.
- Adapt support to patients with physical/mental disabilities, overcoming communication barriers.
- Report patient condition changes promptly, using accurate judgement and established protocols.

Professional Development & Training
- Complete mandatory training as required, including:
- Care Certificate (within 12 weeks of issue)
- Corporate & Care Coach Induction (first week of employment)
- Any further training, as determined by the Trust.
- Work towards vocational qualifications in care alongside performance reviews.
Workflow & Procedural Support
- Undertake basic nursing care tasks (requires dexterity).
- Use basic keyboard skills for trust systems.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Work Environment & Commitments
- Prepare for **annual appraisal processes, including a first appraisal within 6 months.
- Rotate flexible working patterns—team will adapt to weekly coverage demands.
