Clinical Support Worker
Healthcare Support Worker Role Summary
The healthcare support worker will play a critical role in an integrated and dynamic team, delivering high standards of safe, compassionate and therapeutic care to a diverse group of patients. The position offers significant challenges and rewarding contributions in mental health and learning disability support.
As part of the healthcare team, you will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of care and treatment programmes
- Provide instructions, guidance, and advice to patients, their families, and carers
- Support in clinical observations (blood pressure, blood glucose, urinalysis)
- Employ therapeutic interventions under a therapy rotation structure

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
- Person-centred care: Delivery while following service standards and objectives.
- Performing level-delegated clinical care: Following registration of health professionals, e.g., taking records and managing tasks within established care protocols.
- 24/7 flexible rostering covering service needs.
- Assist in de-escalation: Recognising and supporting behaviour changes, identifying risks, professional reporting.
- General patient support: Personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing), feeding, assist in appearance grooming.
- Basic medical insights and updates: Maintain knowledge in policies, mandatory training compliance and clinical developments.
Visa Sponsorship Policy
Visa sponsorship via the Health and Care Worker visa route is conditional upon the prorated salary meeting the minimum threshold of £25,000 as per UK Visas and Immigration criteria. Visa sponsorship may not be possible depending on working hours.

Main Duties
- Work under supervision of registered health care professionals or associate practitioners, using delegated tasks.
- Deliver care with personal and psychosocial care emphasis aimed at maximising recovery.
- Develop effective therapeutic/relationship support with individuals.
- Implement safe and positive care treatment policies in person-centred care.
- Execute detailed observation and recording procedures (blood sugar, blood pressure, etc).
Working Environment
Visual resources include rotating shifts providing 24-hour care (agreed flexibility) alongside regular support hours at Kendray Hospital, Barnsley. Since the NHS offers jerga-free language content requirements, a proactive approach to adaptability with language variations is valued (particularly if you have safety-related concerns beyond English).

Accepted Qualifications/Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Health & Social Care: Mandatory Level 2 regulated qualifications (verified).
- Apprenticeship
ORLevel 3 experience (equivalent NVQ). A grade formal functional/BKS for Maths/English is admissible.
Program Compliance Training
- Expected: Care Certificate generation within 12 weeks post-hire
- Duty responsibility: All release conduct matters must be on-signed by trusts’ guidelines.
Desirable Bonus Skills
- English translations:
- Additional languages recognized professionally as advantageous.
