Clinical Team Leader
Unit/Site Coordinator – Band 6 Nurse
Clinically Active (ADPMH) – Bands 6 Mental Health Centre, Riverside Centre Central and Northwest London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our teams at Riverside Centre Mental Health Centre. At CNWL, we are committed to delivering high standards of clinical excellence.
This role will require you to act as a Unit/Site Coordinator at least four times a month, providing:
- Unit management support
- Co-ordination and facilitation of patient flow (bed management) out-of-hours
- 24/7, 7-day-a-week senior nursing support
- Professional leadership and clinical advice across all nursing areas
** Mandatory TMVA Requirement **
Please note: This role necessitates engagement in Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training, including force techniques training. This is due to the high-acuity nature of the ward environment, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff. TMVA participation is conditional for successful candidates during employment.
Key Responsibilities

Patient Safety & Care:
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users through clinical assessment, risk management, and evidence-based interventions.
- Maintain effective risk assessment and escalation protocols when required.

Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead and supervise Band 5 nurses, healthcare support workers, and student nurses, promoting safe practice and professional development.
- Act as Nurse in Charge and Unit Coordinator when needed, providing senior clinical leadership (especially during emergencies and out-of-hours).

Clinical Governance & Compliance:
- Support the Ward Manager in maintaining clinical governance standards.
- Oversee incident management, service improvements, and compliance with quality and safety requirements.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with patients, carers, families, and the multidisciplinary team to foster recovery-focused care.
- Ensure effective communication across teams and external agencies for coordinated care pathways.

Responsibilities Unique to Band 6 Nurses
1. Clinical Outcomes
Contribute to improved patient outcomes by:
- Practicing autonomously while supervising team members.
- Delivering evidence-based nursing care aligned with Trust policies and national guidelines.
- Partnering with service users and their families in care planning, including risk and needs assessments.
2. Supervisory & Educational Role
- Supervise and support junior staff while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
- Monitor practice to ensure adherence to Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards.
- Reflect on practice and identify areas for improvement.

Person Specification
Education (Essential)
✔ UK NMC-registered Nurse (Mental Health specialty) ✔ Numeracy skills for safe medication administration ✔ Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
✅ Desirable: ▪ A Mentorship Qualification
Experience (Essential)
✔ Previous experience as a Band 5 nurse
