Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic clinical/counselling psychologist to a 0.9 wte Band 8a post within NHS Forth Valley Clinical Health Psychology working across Weight Management & Diabetes Prevention, Type 1 Diabetes and General Medicine.
About the Service
The Clinical Health Psychology service has well established links with and delivers specialist psychological services through embedded psychologists to several acute medical teams (cancer, chronic pain, diabetes, ICU, long covid, maternity, neonatal & perinatal). Clinical Health Psychology also provides specialist psychological input to other patients who live with complex physical health conditions through our General Medicine service.
Key Responsibilities
- 0.3wte to deliver to the Weight Management and Diabetes Prevention teams
- 0.6wte to deliver to General Medicine service and the T1DM service
- Delivering individual therapy to patients with complex needs across the services
- Contributing to the T1DM patient education programme
- Providing psychological consultancy to the T1DM, Weight Management and Diabetes Prevention teams
- Contributing to the development of psychologically informed resources
- Championing the delivery of psychologically informed care by non-psychology health professionals through providing consultation and delivering teaching & training
- Contributing to service development initiatives within Clinical Health Psychology and across the wider Psychological Therapies Service
Team Environment
The Clinical Health Psychology team is friendly and dynamic. As NHS Forth Valley is a smaller health board, there is ample opportunity for close liaison with other services, to benefit from a range of staff wellbeing initiatives, to attend regular CPD events and modality specific reflective practice groups.

Pay and Hours
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
