Role Description
This FULL TIME - ONSITE role for a Clothing Designer specializing in knitwear, denim, and outerwear is based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The designer will create and develop seasonal collections across knitwear, denim, and outerwear categories, translating brand direction and market trends into commercially viable designs. - Researching trends and fabrics

The role involves close collaboration with merchandising, production, and sourcing teams to balance aesthetics, cost, and manufacturability, while maintaining consistency with Grand Step’s quality and brand standards. The designer will also review samples, provide clear feedback to factories, and support continuous improvement in product design and fit.
Qualifications
- Strong Fashion Design and Fashion skills, with a proven ability to design knitwear, denim, and outerwear collections.
- Solid knowledge of Textiles, including yarns, denim constructions, fabric weights, and finishing techniques relevant to outerwear.
- Experience in Fitting, with the ability to assess garment fit, make pattern and construction recommendations, and communicate technical comments clearly.
- Proficiency in Embroidery and decorative applications as they relate to knitwear, denim, and outerwear detailing.
- Relevant experience in apparel design within a commercial or manufacturer environment; portfolio showcasing knitwear, denim, and outerwear is strongly preferred.
- Competence in design and CAD tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar) and basic technical drawing skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with capacity to work effectively across design, production, and sourcing teams in a hybrid setting.
- Good organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail to meet deadlines across multiple product categories.
- Formal training in Fashion Design, Textiles, or a related field is advantageous.
