At Valcon, we help organisations unlock the full value of data, AI and digital platforms by building scalable, automated cloud foundations.

We are looking for a Senior Principal in Cloud Engineering to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale cloud platforms that support modern data, AI and application workloads.

This is a senior consulting leadership role responsible for shaping client cloud strategies, designing modern platform architectures and leading complex transformation programmes. You will work with executive stakeholders to modernise legacy infrastructure, establish platform engineering capabilities and enable organisations to deploy and scale digital products at speed.

The role combines strategic architecture, transformation leadership and deep cloud engineering expertise, helping clients move from manual infrastructure operations to automated, resilient and scalable cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Capability Building

  • Act as a trusted advisor to CIO, CTO and platform leadership teams on cloud platform transformation.
  • Lead architecture workshops and strategic engagements with senior stakeholders.
  • Translate business ambitions for data, AI and digital innovation into scalable cloud architectures.
  • Establish Cloud Engineering Centres of Excellence (CoE) within client organisations.
  • Define operating models, engineering practices and reusable platform components.
  • Support pre-sales activities including proposals, client pitches and solution shaping, bringing technical leadership into the sales cycle.
  • Identify and develop opportunities within client accounts to expand cloud and platform engagements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
