AWS Core Architect
Location: Hybrid – London
Contract Type: Contract Inside IR35
Security Clearance: BPSS / SC Clearance required
In this contract, you will lead the architecture assessment of legacy application estates and design exactly how they will land, run, and operate on a newly established AWS core cloud platform.
Responsibilities
- Legacy Assessments: Conduct deep-dive architectural assessments of legacy applications, evaluating technology stacks, data flows, interfaces, and operational models.
- Target Landing Design: Define target account structures, network placements, compute/storage patterns, and IAM configurations using standard AWS landing zone architectures.
- Migration Strategy: Formulate concrete migration treatments (rehost, replatform, refactor, etc.) and address dependencies, cutover sequences, and rollback strategies.
- Core AWS & EKS Patterns: Design specific integration patterns for S3, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail. Define managed Kubernetes/EKS landing patterns where container runtimes are required.
- Infrastructure as Code: Ensure all designs are fully translated using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Deliverables: Author high-quality Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), transition-state designs, migration design documents, and operational runbooks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
