This is an exciting opportunity to join the programme during a pivotal stage in the evolution of its Secret Community Cloud (SCC).
As part of a growing architecture team, you will help shape the target cloud architecture and operating model following the discovery phase, ensuring the organisation is well positioned to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable cloud services.
Cloud Strategy and Architecture
- Shape the target architecture for the Secure Cloud Capability (SCC) following completion of the discovery phase.
- Define cloud platform capabilities that support both connected and disconnected operating environments.
- Ensure cloud architecture aligns with enterprise architecture, security, and operational objectives.
Disconnected Cloud Architecture
- Design cloud architectures capable of operating in disconnected, air-gapped, or bandwidth-constrained environments.
- Define approaches for synchronisation, resilience, software distribution, identity, and platform management in disconnected deployments.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies that support sovereign and secure cloud capability.
- Ensure solutions are resilient, supportable, and operationally effective across varying connectivity scenarios.

Partner and Supplier Engagement
- Lead the technical onboarding of delivery partners, suppliers, and third-party technology providers.
- Define technical onboarding standards, interface requirements, and architectural governance.
- Act as the senior architectural point of contact for cloud-related supplier engagement.
- Review supplier designs and provide technical assurance throughout delivery.
Architecture Governance
- Produce cloud reference architectures, standards, and design guidance.
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical assurance across cloud-enabled projects.
- Maintain architectural roadmaps for cloud capability development.
Collaboration
- Work closely with other Architects, Platform Engineers, and DevSecOps teams.
- Facilitate technical workshops with stakeholders across business, government, suppliers, and delivery partners.
- Represent the organisation in strategic discussions relating to cloud capability and future technology direction.
Essential Skills
- Experience designing enterprise cloud architectures.
- Significant expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or demonstrable experience across multiple public cloud providers.
- Experience defining cloud strategies, architecture standards, and governance.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, security, resilience, and platform engineering.
- Experience working with infrastructure as code, automation, and cloud-native technologies.
- Experience designing cloud platforms for disconnected, air-gapped, or highly secure environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and supplier management skills.
- Strong communication and technical leadership abilities.

Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting Defence, Government, National Security, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and platform engineering practices.
- Experience with disconnected cloud operations, tactical edge computing, or secure cloud environments.
- Knowledge of secure-by-design principles and cloud accreditation processes.
- Experience collaborating with international partners or large system integrators.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Google Professional Cloud Architect certification (highly desirable).
- Relevant security or cloud engineering certifications are advantageous.
