Location: Basingstoke (hybrid working 3 office days per week)

This is the job

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Delivery Lead to take ownership of our enterprise cloud estate and play a pivotal role in delivering our cloud strategy. Working within a large scale, complex technology environment, you will lead a critical function that underpins innovation, operational excellence and cloud transformation across the organisation.

With significant Azure migration activity underway and an ambitious technology roadmap ahead, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future direction of cloud technology at The AA, influencing major programmes and driving meaningful change across the business. Working closely with senior stakeholders, engineering teams and strategic partners, you'll help deliver modern, resilient and scalable cloud services that support millions of customers.

Leading both onshore and offshore teams, you will act as a cloud centre of excellence, ensuring our platforms remain secure, reliable, cost effective and aligned to business objectives, while championing continuous improvement and technical best practice.

What will I be doing?

  • Leading the delivery, support and continuous improvement of the AA's cloud platforms, covering infrastructure, platform and software as a service environment.
  • Owning the cloud roadmap, driving Azure focused transformation, platform enhancements and technical debt remediation activities.
  • Managing and developing onshore and offshore cloud engineering teams, providing leadership, coaching and technical direction.
  • Ensuring operational stability through effective governance, service management, incident escalation and root cause remediation.
  • Driving cloud financial management, cost optimisation and utilisation improvements while acting as a key stakeholder within cloud governance forums.
  • Building strong relationships with business stakeholders, technology teams and third-party partners to deliver cloud services and strategic change.

What do I need?

  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, with experience leading cloud infrastructure, migration and transformation initiatives within complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience providing technical leadership through line management, coaching or mentoring, alongside the ability to develop and motivate high performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across business and technology functions at all levels.
  • Proven experience working with both onshore and offshore teams, including managing third party suppliers and outsourced service providers.
  • A strong understanding of cloud operations, governance, service management and continuous improvement within a 24/7 operational environment, ideally gained within a large-scale enterprise organisation.
  • Relevant cloud certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, together with exposure to AWS, cloud architecture, cost optimisation and operational frameworks such as ITIL, security or project delivery methodologies.
