Cloud Engineer (AWS)
Location: London (Hybrid – minimum 3 days per week onsite)
Salary: £50,000 - £72,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance
The Opportunity
Join one of the UK's leading cyber and intelligence organisations, delivering secure cloud solutions that support critical National Security programmes.
Working as part of an experienced Software Engineering team, you'll help design, build and maintain cloud-based systems that enable customers to deliver mission-critical capabilities. You'll work within autonomous DevOps teams, using modern AWS technologies and engineering practices to solve complex challenges.
This is an opportunity for an experienced AWS Engineer to work on meaningful projects, develop new skills and contribute to systems that have a real impact on UK security.
The Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you'll design, develop and deploy scalable cloud solutions across AWS environments, working across the full software delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain cloud applications and services on AWS.
- Work within DevOps teams to build, deploy and support secure cloud solutions.
- Use Infrastructure as Code to automate cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain software solutions using modern engineering practices.
- Work with AWS services to solve complex technical challenges.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and identify opportunities to improve delivery.
- Collaborate with technical teams and end users to understand requirements.
- Support continuous integration, testing and deployment processes.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for experienced Cloud Engineers with strong AWS and software engineering experience.
You'll ideally have experience with:
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, IAM, ELB, SNS and SQS.
- Scripting experience using Python, Bash or Shell.
- Software development experience in a Lambda-compatible programming language.
- Infrastructure as Code experience using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK.
- Experience with source control tools such as Git.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Desirable experience:
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer or DevOps).
- Container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, ECS or EKS.
- CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity or Bitbucket.
- Microservices and API design.
- Linux, networking, routing and firewall concepts.
- Cloud monitoring, observability and FinOps principles.
