About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native architectures that support our clients' digital initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement infrastructure solutions using the latest cloud technologies, primarily focusing on AWS services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for innovation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, lead technical initiatives, and grow within a collaborative environment that values resourcefulness and continuous improvement.

- Proficiency in a broad range of AWS services, with a keen interest in staying updated on new releases and features
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
- Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
- Strong understanding of networking principles and their application in software-defined networking within cloud environments
- Experience working with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, or OpenShift
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go to automate and streamline cloud operations
- Relevant AWS certifications are desirable; however, training and certification opportunities are available for committed candidates
Responsibilities
As a Cloud Engineer at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native architectures aligned with client requirements
- Utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK to automate resource deployment and management
- Creating and managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring best practices for security, performance, and cost-efficiency
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand project needs and deliver tailored cloud solutions
- Developing standard implementation patterns and reusable modules to streamline deployment processes
- Managing software configuration across projects, including version control and source repositories
- Applying AWS security features and ensuring adherence to security best practices in all cloud operations
- Mentoring junior team members and, for senior engineers, leading project teams or initiatives to foster best practices and innovation
