Cloud Engineer (AWS) – UK-wide

About the Role
The Cloud Engineer (AWS) designs, deploys, and manages Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure to ensure scalability, security, and cost efficiency. Working closely with the Cloud Engineering Manager and other tech teams, this role drives digital transformation, enhances service delivery, and maximises AWS investments.
Location: Primarily remote with 3 days in-person (either our Hessle or Prudhoe offices).
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AWS infrastructure solutions (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda).
- Optimise AWS environments for performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Enforce cloud governance, security policies, and compliance frameworks.
- Automate cloud operations using CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CLI.
- Support cloud migration projects and on-premises integrations.
- Monitor cloud services and resolve incidents/performance issues.
- Maintain Cloud Engineering documentation (architecture, configs, procedures).
- Collaborate with IT teams to deliver business-aligned cloud solutions.
- Provide 3rd line support for AWS-related escalations.
- Stay updated on AWS advances to recommend new solutions.
- Ensure adherence to IT security, data protection (GDPR/PIPEDA), and best practices.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in AWS infrastructure design, deployment, and management (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch etc.).
- Expertise in cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, AWS CLI).
- Deep knowledge of cloud security, identity management, and compliance (ISO 27001, GDPR etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
