Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Permanent

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £54,300 - £61,794 + Benefits

Working Arrangements: Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)

Introduction

Join AQA's Assessment Technology team and play a key role in supporting the systems that help deliver millions of GCSE and A-level results every year. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a team that is modernising critical platforms, adopting new technologies and driving continuous improvement across cloud infrastructure and application services.

Purpose of the Role

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you'll help ensure the reliability, security and performance of the infrastructure that supports AQA's scanning and marking services. You'll work closely with technology teams, suppliers and business users to deploy, support and enhance cloud-based solutions, while contributing to the ongoing modernisation of our platform services.

This role offers the opportunity to work with Microsoft Azure technologies, infrastructure as code practices and modern DevOps approaches in an environment where your work directly supports learners and educators across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploying, supporting and improving cloud-based applications and infrastructure within Microsoft Azure using modern DevOps practices and infrastructure as code technologies.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and optimising platform performance, security and availability while helping resolve infrastructure and application issues, including taking part in the agreed out-of-hours support roster during live exam series.
  • Working collaboratively with development teams, technology colleagues, suppliers and business users to deliver reliable services and support ongoing platform modernisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
