iO Associates are looking for an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to support a major secure cloud transformation programme within the UK public sector. You'll play a key role in designing, implementing and managing networking for a Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) environment, helping deliver secure, resilient infrastructure for mission-critical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement resilient cloud and hybrid network architectures.
- Configure secure site-to-site connectivity, VPNs and private interconnects.
- Manage VPCs, routing, peering and IP address management (IPAM).
- Deploy and maintain load balancing and private DNS solutions.
- Design and secure Kubernetes (GKE) networking, including network policies, private control planes and Istio Service Mesh.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance using flow logs and observability tooling.

Essential Skills
- Proven experience designing and supporting complex cloud or hybrid networking environments.
- Strong knowledge of Google Cloud networking concepts, including VPCs and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience with Kubernetes networking (GKE) and service mesh technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work within secure or highly regulated environments.
- Active SC Clearance is essential.

- Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer certification.
- Experience delivering secure cloud infrastructure within government or defence environments.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and GitLab.
- Experience working in air-gapped or disconnected environments.
