Overview
The Cluster Business Controller is responsible for leading business control and performance management activities for the UK, Ireland, and Norway cluster. The role acts as a true sparring partner and right hand to the Station Manager(s), providing financial insight, performance analysis, and decision support to drive profitability and operational efficiency. The role requires strong ownership of data and the ability to translate financial and operational information into a clear business story for the management.
Responsibilities

Business Control & Performance Management
- Lead all business control activities for the UK, Ireland, and Norway cluster
- Act as a trusted sparring partner to Station Manager(s), challenging assumptions and supporting data-driven decision-making
- Provide clear financial and operational insights to improve commercial and operational performance
- Work closely with operations, sales, and other stakeholders to understand operational and commercial drivers
- Develop a deep understanding of data and be able to clearly tell the story behind the numbers

Budgeting & Monthly Performance Review
- Support Station Manager(s) with the annual budgeting process
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial and operational performance reviews
- Combine financial and non-financial KPIs to explain performance drivers

Budget vs. Actual & Profitability Analysis
- Perform detailed budget vs. actual analyses to identify budget gaps, risks, and improvement areas
- Conduct profitability analysis by customer, modality, and key business drivers
- Identify and quantify cost, volume, and margin improvement opportunities

Decision Support & Ad-hoc Analysis
- Act as the right hand to Station Manager(s) on ad-hoc performance-related questions
- Prepare scenario analyses and business cases to support operational and commercial decisions
Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience in financial and/or business controlling roles
- Solid knowledge of business control, management reporting, and performance analysis
- Experience in logistics, transportation, or service-driven industries preferred
- Strong analytical mindset, critical thinking skills, and ability to translate data into insights
- Proactive, hands-on approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with Cargowise and BI tools is a major plus
