Pebbles Care is seeking a collaborative, compassionate professional to join our established cluster of residential child care homes in the UK. Your role will bring diversity to your experience, as you may:

  • Drive children to and from school, appointments, and visits across a small cluster of homes alongside day-to-day home life
  • Teach essential life skills such as meal preparation, household chores, and personal care
  • Develop tailored support for young people through engaging activities, outings, and holidays
  • Operate as either a one-to-one or two-to-one worker, delivering bespoke care across multiple homes

Key Responsibilities You will be employed as a full-time Cluster Residential Child Care Worker, averaging 56.4 hours per week (including overnight shifts and sleep periods). Core responsibilities include:

  • Actively supporting children aged 8–18 with trauma, emotional difficulties, behavioural challenges, or other complex needs
  • Providing consistent safe, nurturing, and therapeutic care aligned with Pebbles Way principles
  • Working in rotational shifts (one day on, two days off/48 hours offtime) to meet holiday coverage and training needs
  • Consistently adapting support plans collaboratively with fellow team members and trained supervisors

Your Development

  • Day-one induction covering Pebbles Way and the organisation’s therapeutic model
  • Ongoing clinical supervision and support from a manager
  • Access to our Learning and Development team, including expert training and cost-free Level 3 SVQ/NVQ in Residential Childcare

Compensation & Benefits

SupportOffer
Salary£35,468.95–£37,043.94 per annum (pro-rata), based on experience. Further rates may apply for candidates with 12+ months’ experience.
Working PatternRotational shifts; 4-day cycle (24-hour overnight shifts followed by 48 hours off). Clear notifications for changes.
Leave5.6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata for temporary roles).
QualificationsFull support to complete Level 3 SVQ/NVQ residency training without cost

What We’re Looking For: Essentials

  • Emotional resilience and capacity to empathise while maintaining boundaries with complex behaviours
  • A full, clean UK manual driving license (all vehicles require manual transmission)
  • Safeguarding trajectory—commitment to adhere to UK safeguarding codes
    • Ethical approach—positive “non-judgemental” interactions central to our care model
    • Patience and engagement alongside active problem-solving
  • Desirable traits:
    • At least 12 months’ experience (practice-based or volunteering) with children/youth (higher rates apply)
    • Array of training or diplomas, SCQF Level 7/3 relevant to Children’s Care supported by funding
    • First-hand familiarity with regulatory codes (Social Work England/Government guidance)
