THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 9 MONTHS UNTIL 31/03/2027 DUE TO FUNDING

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Pharmacy Technician in the Community Mental Health Team in the West. The job purpose is to provide a medicines management service to support the CMHT staff and patients. Roles include:
- Establish patient’s medication history and identify discrepancies
- Identify potential pharmaceutical issues that may arise
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve issues
- Work with patients to optimise their medication such as clozapine, lithium, ADHD and depot antipsychotics
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
- Oversee clozapine dispensing in the dispensary, deal with problems
- Manage depots
- Depot stock check in CMHTs
- Polarpseed
- Shared agreements with first gen depot
- Ensure medication stock facilities are in line with BCU standards
- Involvement with clozapine clinics
- Formulary switches via EMIS
- Check lithium bloods and refer to pharmacist where appropriate
- Check annual monitoring bloods and other physical health monitoring in relation to antipsychotics (especially HDAT), lithium, ADHD meds etc. have been done
- Streamline dispensing for mental health in the dispensary e.g.:
- Ensure only RED drugs are being dispensed long term
- Moving amber shared care drugs to GP once patient is stable
- Patient medication counselling e.g. clozapine, lithium, antidepressants to improve medication adherence
- Running EMIs searches
- Valproate ‘prevent’ compliance
- Prescribing of RED drugs has been communicated with GPs
- Meds reconciliation for patients discharged from psych unit or transferred from psych liaison or HTT

- Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
- Level 3 NVQ in Pharmacy
Desirable criteria
- Ability to speak Welsh
