Mission: We are seeking a highly capable CMM Metrology Technician to join our growing aerospace manufacturing team, supporting the production and validation of advanced Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS). This is an exciting opportunity to work within a cutting-edge production environment focused on precision engineering, dimensional verification, and continuous quality improvement in a highly regulated AS9100-compliant aerospace setting. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring all manufactured components, assemblies, and subcontract-supplied parts meet exacting dimensional and quality requirements. Core Responsibilities • Perform dimensional inspection and verification of machined, fabricated, additive and assembled aerospace components using CMM and laser scanning technologies • Program, operate, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for first-off, in-process, and final inspection activities • Carry out first article inspection reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements • Interpret and inspect against engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and GD&T specifications • Generate detailed inspection reports, deviation reports, and measurement data packs • Conduct root cause support investigations for dimensional non-conformances and support corrective actions • Verify both in-house manufactured parts and subcontract-supplied components • Support production and engineering teams with process capability studies, MSA, GR&R and continuous improvement initiatives • Ensure all metrology activities are completed in line with AS9100 quality standards and traceability requirements • Maintain calibration awareness and control of measurement equipment Essential Skills & Experience • Proven experience as a CMM Technician / Metrology Technician / Quality Inspector within aerospace, defence or high-precision engineering • Strong understanding of GD&T / geometric tolerancing and engineering drawings • Experience with first article inspection (AS9102) • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems • Experience producing clear dimensional reports and NCR documentation • Strong attention to detail and commitment to right-first-time quality • Ability to work closely with manufacturing, CNC machining, and engineering teams Desirable Experience • Experience with Hexagon CMM systems • Knowledge of Hexagon PC-DMIS, QUINDOS, or associated software • Experience using laser scanning / 3D scanning metrology systems • Familiarity with Hexagon laser scanners or portable scanning arms • Experience inspecting complex 5-axis machined aerospace components • Exposure to composite, additive manufacturing, or UAS airframe components • Understanding of surface profile and reverse engineering inspection techniques Qualifications • Engineering / Manufacturing qualification (NVQ, BTEC, HNC, or equivalent) desirable • Formal CMM programming certification advantageous • Metrology or quality inspection training preferred What We’re Looking For • We’re looking for someone with a proactive mindset, strong technical capability and a passion for precision engineering who thrives in a fast-moving aerospace and defence environment. • You’ll be joining a team building next-generation UAS platforms where quality, accuracy and innovation are mission-critical.
