Location: Totton, Hampshire
Pay: £20.00 per hour + 20% Twilight Shift Premium (£24.00 per hour equivalent)
Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 2:00pm - Midnight | 40 hours

Haworth Castings is one of the UK's leading aluminium foundries, supplying precision cast and machined components to customers across aerospace, defence, automotive, marine and industrial sectors.
Following significant investment in our machining department, we're looking for an experienced CNC Vertical Lathe Setter/Operator to join our growing twilight shift team operating our PUMA CNC Vertical Lathe.
This is a permanent opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, a four-day working week and the chance to work in a modern manufacturing environment where quality and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
You'll be responsible for independently setting, proving and operating our CNC vertical turning centre, producing high-precision machined components from aluminium castings.
Working alongside our experienced machining team, you'll take ownership of quality, productivity and process improvement while helping us continue to grow capacity.

Responsibilities
- Set, prove and operate PUMA CNC Vertical Lathes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Produce precision machined components to tight tolerances
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
- Use micrometers, bore gauges, verniers and other precision measuring equipment
- Monitor tooling performance and identify process improvements
- Record inspection results, downtime and scrap accurately
- Support continuous improvement and root cause investigations
- Mentor less experienced operators where appropriate
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety
We're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC lathes (vertical turning experience desirable)
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances
- Good problem-solving skills
- A proactive attitude with pride in producing quality work
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Experience with PUMA machines would be advantageous but isn't essential.
