Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site CNC machine setter role based in Bideford. The CNC machine setter will be responsible for setting and operating CNC turning machines to produce precision components to specification. Daily tasks include interpreting engineering drawings, selecting and installing tooling, setting machine parameters, performing test runs, and adjusting programs or offsets to achieve correct dimensions and quality standards. The role also involves monitoring production, performing routine checks, identifying and resolving machining issues, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Collaboration with production, quality, and maintenance teams is expected to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.

- Experience setting and operating CNC turning or milling machines, including tooling setup, parameter adjustment, and basic program edits.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and measurement data accurately.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, and a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Understanding of machining processes, materials, cutting speeds, and feeds in a production environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and correct machining issues during production.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on the shop floor.
- Previous experience in precision engineering or high-volume manufacturing is desirable; relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in machining or engineering is an advantage.
