CNC Machinist – CNC Setter Operator (All Levels)
Location: Fife, Scotland
£35k-£41k + Shift allowance -+overtime (4 day week shift pattern)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for CNC Machinists to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer producing complex, high-tolerance components for demanding applications.
Working within a modern machining environment, you will manufacture low-volume, high-complexity components to exacting quality standards. Whether you are an experienced machinist or looking to develop your career, this company offers genuine training, progression and long-term opportunities within a highly skilled engineering team.
The Role – CNC Machinist / Setter Operator
- Set, operate and, where appropriate, programme CNC machine tools
- Manufacture complex precision components to tight tolerances
- Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection activities
- Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges
- Monitor tooling performance and tool wear
- Maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement activities
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to deliver customer requirements

Level 1 – Senior CNC Machinist
- Fully competent in programming, setting and operating CNC machines independently
- Able to manufacture complex components with minimal supervision
- Support and mentor less experienced operators
Level 2 – CNC Setter Operator
- Confident setting and operating CNC machinery independently
- Able to manufacture standard and more complex components with engineering support
- Keen to develop towards full programming responsibilities
Level 3 – CNC Operator
- Operate CNC machinery under supervision
- Learn setup, tooling and inspection techniques
- Develop skills through structured training and hands-on experience

Requirements
- Previous CNC machining experience (level dependent)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Understanding of GD&T and precision engineering principles advantageous
- Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Knowledge of CNC milling and/or turning processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Experience with 3, 4 or 5-axis machining would be beneficial
