About Us

Our award-winning heritage engineering company Tybro Ltd, established in 1914, is based in Kirkby in Ashfield, Notts, just off junction 28 of the M1. Specializing in Machining, Fabrication, and Assembly, we cater to exciting industries such as Energy, Medical, Defence, Rail, Aerospace, Transport, Oil Exploration, and a wide range of other industries.

Position Overview

Due to the increased demand for our award-winning machining fabrication services, an opportunity has arisen within our team for an experienced CNC Miller Programmer Setter Operator to join our skilled team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme, set, and operate CNC Milling machines for production.
  • Produce precision components.
  • Write and edit programs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Manufacture accurately to tight tolerances.
  • Produce large/ medium/ small batches or complex one-offs.
  • Work on parts up to 2m in length, using lifting equipment provided safely.
  • Maintain CNC machines to a schedule.
  • Work to strict health and safety standards.
  • Use engineering measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers, CMM machines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and write programs online.
  • Change tooling.
  • Inspect components maintaining high quality standards.
  • Use measuring equipment such as micrometres, plug gauges, verniers, screw plugs, and ring gauges.

Ideal Candidate

  • Solid experience in programming, setting, and operating 3/4 axis CNC Milling machines using Heidenhain controls.
  • Experience producing precision machined components.
  • Ability to write and edit programs.
  • Fully conversant with reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Ability to manufacture accurately to tight tolerances.
  • Experience producing large/ medium/ small batches or complex one-offs.
  • Confident in working on parts up to 2m in length, using lifting equipment provided safely.
  • Must have served an apprenticeship in CNC machining and be able to produce your papers or demonstrate 5 years working experience within your work history.
  • Excellent working knowledge of 3-4 axis CNC machines, cutting speeds and feeds, geometric tolerances.
  • Ability to use engineering measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers, CMM machines.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance of CNC machines to a schedule.
  • Work to strict health and safety standards.
  • ISO 9001-2015 experience would be beneficial.
  • Work as part of a team, pass on best practice.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under own initiative but also part of a wider team.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Setting, operating, and programming online using Heidenhain control.
  • Machining complex parts and components from various general engineering materials such as Aluminium, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium variety of materials.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, writing programs online.
  • Changing tooling.
  • Inspecting components maintaining high quality standards.
  • Use measuring equipment such as micrometres, plug gauges, verniers, screw plugs, and ring gauges.
