CNC Operator/Setter
CNC Operators and Setters – Bilston, Wolverhampton
Job Overview
We are seeking multiple skilled and experienced CNC Operators and Setters to join our precision engineering team at Parker Precision.
The roles involve ensuring efficient workflow through the CNC department, supporting production requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and performance. Successful candidates will be responsible for setting, operating, and maintaining CNC machines, working collaboratively with the CNC Team Leader and Senior Management.
Location: Bilston, Wolverhampton, West Midlands Job Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week (alternating shifts) Shift Times: Early: 06:00 AM – 14:00 PM (Mon–Thu), 06:00 AM – 11:00 AM (Fri) Afternoons: 14:00 PM – 22:00 PM (Mon–Thu), 11:00 AM – 16:00 PM (Fri)
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with leadership – Liaise with the CNC Team Leader and management to align production plans, scheduling, and task delegations.
- Perform CNC machining – Undertake assigned machining tasks following instructions from the CNC Team Leader or Senior Management.
- Efficient machine operation – Set up, load, and operate CNC machines safely and efficiently.
- Quality and performance standards – Maintain high-performance standards to meet production targets.
- Training & development – Support operational training as directed by leadership.
- Lean manufacturing & CI – Assist with Kaizen initiatives, tooling improvements, and process efficiencies.
- Problem-solving – Identify, discuss, and resolve production or operational issues, escalating when necessary.
- Safety compliance – Monitor and uphold health and safety standards within the CNC department.
- Shift leadership support – Deputise for the CNC Team Leader when required.
- Communication – Ensure clear daily communication with management to maintain production plan compliance.
- Ethical compliance – Follow company policies, procedures, and the Parker Precision/Brookhouse Code of Conduct.
- Culture & excellence – Promote safety, operational excellence, and professional behaviour.

Essential Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 in CNC Machining (or equivalent qualification).
- Time-served machinist with proven experience in setting, loading, and operating CNC machines.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machinery, processes, and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Sound judgement with initiative for decision-making.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement (CI) environments.
- Familiarity with Star, Mazak, Doosan, or Hardinge CNC machines in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of modern CNC tooling technologies and process optimisation techniques.
