An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly skilled and reliable CNC Programmer, Setter & Operator to join the manufacturing team at Brassart.

Brassart is a specialist British manufacturer of premium solid brass architectural hardware, producing bespoke and standard collections of door, cabinet and window furniture for some of the world's most prestigious residential, hospitality and retail projects. Our products combine traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques, delivering exceptional quality, precision and finish for architects, interior designers and developers across the globe.

As our business continues to grow through investment in people, technology and manufacturing capability, we are looking for an experienced CNC machinist who shares our commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

This role offers the opportunity to become an integral part of a skilled production team, helping to develop efficient machining processes while manufacturing high-value architectural hardware to exacting standards.

Working closely with Production and Engineering, you will play an important role in manufacturing high-value brass hardware, supporting new product introductions, and maintaining the exceptional quality that defines the Brassart brand.

We manufacture a wide range of premium architectural brass hardware, including:

  • Door handles and lever sets
  • Door pulls and entrance hardware
  • Cabinet handles and knobs
  • Window furniture
  • Bathroom accessories
  • Bespoke architectural hardware
  • Custom brass components for luxury interior projects

Our products are supplied to:

  • High-end residential developments
  • Luxury private homes
  • Boutique and international hotels
  • Premium retail environments
  • Commercial interior fit-outs
  • Architectural and interior design projects worldwide

Working Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am – 2:00pm

(30 minute Unpaid lunch break, 15 Minute Paid Morning Break, 2 x 5 Minute Paid Comfort Breaks)

Permanent Full-Time Position

  • 38 Hours per Week

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for offline programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres used in the manufacture of precision brass components and architectural hardware.

Working closely with the Production Manager and Engineering team, you will help optimise machining processes, improve productivity and ensure consistently high standards of quality across both bespoke and production work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
  • Programming, setting and operating 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining centres
  • Working with Fanuc control systems
  • Producing first-off components and proving out new programs
  • Developing efficient machining strategies for brass and other non-ferrous materials
  • Selecting appropriate tooling, work holding and machining methods
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Inspection of machined components using precision measuring equipment
  • Ensuring components meet dimensional and cosmetic quality standards
  • Supporting new product development and prototype manufacture
  • Optimising cycle times, tooling performance and setup efficiency
  • Assisting with fixture design and process improvements
  • Maintaining tooling, machines and workshop organisation
  • Working independently while contributing to a collaborative manufacturing team

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced CNC machinist with strong practical machining skills and excellent offline programming experience.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in offline CNC programming
  • Experience setting and operating CNC machining centres
  • Strong knowledge of machining metal, in particular brass, bronze and other non-ferrous materials
  • Excellent understanding of tooling, work holding and machining strategies
  • Ability to programme directly from both engineering drawings.
  • Ability to convert CAD models to machine programs
  • Experience using Fanuc controls or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of geometric tolerances and engineering drawings
  • Excellent inspection and measurement skills
  • Experience producing high-quality cosmetic components
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and solve machining challenges
  • A proactive approach to process improvement
  • Good organisational skills and workshop discipline
  • Reliability, professionalism and a positive attitude
  • Flexibility to work overtime if required

We are looking for someone who understands that producing premium architectural hardware requires more than simply machining components. Surface quality, repeatability, dimensional accuracy and manufacturing efficiency are all equally important.

The successful candidate will be confident selecting the most effective machining methods, tooling and work holding solutions while continually improving processes to achieve exceptional results.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Experience machining decorative or architectural brass products
  • Knowledge of CAM software
  • Fixture design experience
  • Experience supporting prototype and new product development
  • Quoting or estimating experience
  • Production planning knowledge
