Role Overview

This is an important role, as you will be responsible for producing work to a high quality controlled standard within the various industries IMI Thompson Valves operates. As the Setter Operator you will be responsible for producing components to drawing tolerances and within the quality specification.

This position requires someone skilled in machining processes to apply a logical approach to achieve production efficiency and targets.

Key Responsibilities

Duties Will Include But Not Be Limited To

  • Read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Select the correct tooling and holding devices for manufacture from the tool sheets.
  • Set to the set up sheets, feedback any amendments required.
  • Prove out proven/unproven programs.
  • Manufacture to correct drawing specifications.
  • Carry out own 1st off inspection.
  • Complete feedback tickets of set and run times.
  • Maintain production targets.
  • Check and complete the necessary quality documentation.
  • Complete productivity data to measure machine performance.
  • Follow Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Lean principles.
  • Ensure tooling and gauging are maintained to a high quality.
  • Take reasonable care of your own Safety, Health, Environmental and Fire (SHEF) safety;
  • Ensure that you do not put at risk, the SHEF safety of any other person;
  • Co-operate with your employer, or any other person, with duties relating to SHEF safety;
  • Liaise with Production Engineers when required to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Experience of setting and running CNC Turn Mill Machines. (Mazatrol)
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and work calmly under pressure.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Committed to work to deadlines and determined to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable desire to progress, succeed, and ability to work as part of a team or work independently.
  • Ability to perform the job functions to a high standard under normal working conditions.
  • PC Literate.

Desirable Competencies for Success

  • Apprenticeship trained

Double Days shift pattern is as follows :-

  • Early Shift – Mon-Thurs 6am-14:15 and Friday 6am-12pm and then rotates to Late Shift Mon-Thurs 2:15pm-10:15pm and Fri 12pm-7:30pm. 2 weeks early then two weeks lates.
