Setter Operator – Production
Location: IMI Thompson Valves (whilst exact site details should be enquired directly with HR)

Role Overview
You will play a critical role as Setter Operator producing high-quality components across IMI Thompson Valves’ sectors. Your focus:
- Manufacturing to drawing tolerances
- Adhering to rigorously controlled quality standards
- Increasing production efficiency using CNC Machining expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme and Setup
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Use tooling and holding devices from tool sheets, flagging any necessary amendments.
- Implement setups from setup sheets.
- Develop, prove and debug draft/cnew programs with feedback.

Production & Quality Control
- Manufacture to specified drawing standards.
- Conduct first-off inspections to verify quality.
- Fill out feedback tickets for set-up times and run targets.

Performance & Lean Principles
- Maintain production targets and schedule.
- Compile productivity data to monitor machine performance.
- Follow company policies and Lean manufacturing methodology.

Engineering & Maintenance
- Ensure proper upkeep of tooling, gauging, and machinery.
- Collaborate with Production Engineers to optimise efficiency.

Safety Compliance
- Adhere to SHEF (Safety, Health, Environmental, Fire) standards.
- Personal commitment to safety without compromising colleague welfare.

Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties commensurate with the role (as required by management).

- Hands-on Experience with CNC Turn Mill machines (preferably Mazatrol).
- Can-do problem-solving mindset—able to work under pressure.
- Strong communication—verbal, written, and transparent reporting.
- Unwavering attention to detail for quality adherence.
- Commitment to job completion—operating efficiently within deadlines.
- Work ethic—independent initiative or collaborative team spirit (both respected).
- Proficiency with computers (common operational software).
Desirable Competencies for Success
- Apprenticeship training (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Working Hours – Double Shift Pattern
- Early Shift: Mon-Thu: 0600 — 1415 hrs; Fri: 0600hr — 1200pm
- After two weeks: Late Shift rotates to Mon-Thu: 1415 — 2215 hrs; Fri 1200 — 1930 hrs.
