- Location: Keighley
- Salary: Up to £24.00 per hour
- Hours: Monday to Thursday | 2:00pm – 12:30am | 40 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Business: Growing precision engineering manufacturer
Why this role? Exciting opportunity to join the business during a period of growth, playing a key role in establishing a brand-new late shift within the machine shop.
The successful candidate will initially complete shifts on day schedules to learn products, processes, and wider business operations before transitioning into the permanent late shift.
This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who operates confidently independently, with expertise in programming, setting, operating, and troubleshooting Fanuc-controlled mill/turn machinery with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
The primary duties include:
- Taking full responsibility for machining operations on the new shift, ensuring precision tow in-spec, efficient and high-quality component production.
- Demonstrating full self-sufficiency in Fanuc mill/turn programming, setting, operating, and troubleshooting, acting as the sole machinist after 5pm alongside warehouse operatives.
- Operating autonomously, showcasing confidence and capability as the sole engineer on shift and responsible for shift management.

Key Tasks:
- Programme, set, and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC mill/turn machinery
- Work from engineering drawings to produce precision machined components
- Conduct machine set-ups, proof-testing, and programme adjustments as necessary
- Independently troubleshoot machinery, tooling, and programming issues
- Ensure components meet specifications and maintain high-quality standards
- Perform in-process checks and first-off inspections
- Optimise machine utilisation and support overall production output
- Work autonomously during the late shift, managing workload effectively
- Support continuous process improvements where possible
- Maintain safety protocols and company procedures
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in Fanuc CNC mill/turn programming, setting, and operation
- Strong background in CNC machining, specifically within precision engineering or manufacturing
- Self-reliant and capable of troubleshooting without direct supervision
- Experience reading engineering drawings for tight-tolerance machining operations
- Confident with machine setup, programme editing, and process adjustments
- Comfortable acting as the sole machinist on shift
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach
- Reliable, self-motivated and committed to taking ownership of the role

Desirable
- Combined experience in both milling and turning operations
- Background in a low-volume/high-precision machining environment
- Previous contributions to setting up or supporting a new machining shift
- Continuous improvement mindset focusing on operational efficiency

Package & Benefits
- Salary: Up to £24.00 per hour

- Working pattern: Monday to Thursday
- Hours: 40-hour week with a three-day weekend
- Training: Initial period during the day shift learning products and business processes
