Senior C#/.NET Engineer – Greenfield Event-Driven Data Platform | Fintech | £120K+ | Hybrid, London


About the Role

An exciting full-time opportunity at a leading fintech company, where you’ll help build a next-generation, event-driven, real-time data platform from scratch.

We’re seeking C#/.NET Core Engineers who enjoy tackling scalable, high-performance systems, shaping modern architectures, and thriving in a fast-paced, rapid-change environment.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver production-grade software with a focus on quality, scalability, and performance
  • Take technical ownership of system architecture, including technology selection, microservices design, and event-driven pipelines
  • Build event-driven microservices to process near real-time data efficiently
  • Collaborate closely with product, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless, high-impact solutions
  • Balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability with a strong engineering mindset
  • Contribute heavily to technical decision-making in a greenfield project, shaping the foundation from day one

This is a hands-on engineering role with architectural influence—ideal for those passionate about building something groundbreaking in financial technology.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in C#/.NET Core, with a strong grasp of modern OOP principles
  • Event-driven architecture expertise, particularly with Azure Event Hubs or Apache Kafka
  • Experience designing and deploying microservices (e.g., RESTful APIs/gRPC)
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, MongoDB, or Azure Cosmos DB—and optimising queries for performance
  • Hands-on knowledge of Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong focus on software quality:
    • Unit testing
    • Behaviour-driven development (BDD with Cucumber/Gherkin)
    • Automation and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Expertise in debugging, performance tuning, and monitoring (APM tools preferred)
  • Ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments with large-scale data systems
