About the Role
As a Coatings Applicator, you will play a key role in the protection, repair, and maintenance of critical infrastructure assets. Working on industrial and utility sites, you'll undertake surface preparation, specialist coating application, and asset repair on steel and concrete structures.
This hands-on position is ideal for those who take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining high safety standards, and contributing to successful project delivery in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical surface preparation (grinding, bristle blasting, hand preparation) to required standards.
- Apply specialist industrial coatings and repair compounds in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Work safely and effectively in confined spaces, at height, and on operational client sites.
- Comply with site permits, Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and all company/client safety procedures.
- Assist in quality records, inspection documentation, photography, and project reporting.
- Maintain standards of workmanship, housekeeping, and equipment care.
- Travel across the UK, including working away from home when required.
- Develop technical knowledge and progress toward professional accreditation (e.g., NACE/AMPP), with full company support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
