About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Coatings Chargehand to join our Engineered Solutions division and play a pivotal role in supporting industrial and infrastructure projects across Tees-side and the wider UK.

In this position, you will report to the Coatings Delivery Manager, supervising site teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality deliveries. Collaboration with operational management and client representatives will be key to maintaining service excellence while driving process improvement within the business.

The successful candidate will be based in Redcar and responsible for:


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership

    • Lead and supervise site-based coatings teams across daily operations.
    • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to safe working practices.
  • Quality & Compliance

    • Record, report, and investigate safety observations, inspections, and incidents.
    • Conduct quality inspections and ensure documentation aligns with industry standards.
    • Champion quality management systems and best practices across teams.
  • Operational Efficiency

    • Collaborate with the Coatings Management Team and client representatives to align priorities.
    • Analyse performance against targets and recommend corrective actions.
    • Implement root cause analysis for issue resolution.
  • Technical Support

    • Provide technical guidance on coatings applications, particularly for complex projects.
    • Recommend improvements to processes, methods, and workflows.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Attend operational meetings, communicate outcomes, and ensure actions are implemented.
    • Produce reports and updates as required.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in an operational coatings/museware environment.
  • Full knowledge of coatings application processes, including safety and technical logistics.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while adhering to planned schedules.
  • Understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and inspection protocols.
  • Strong people management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent co-ordination and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Specialist knowledge of coatings systems, epoxy repair compounds, and brands such as Belzona or equivalents.
  • Experience in wastewater, utilities, heavy industrial, or power environments.
  • Confined Space and/or Working at Height competency.
  • Record of CCNSG card (or commitment to obtaining).
  • NACE Level 2 / AMPP, ICorr, or equivalent certification, or willingness to pursue with company support.
