The Venue
AO Arena is a true powerhouse of live entertainment, one of the most iconic indoor arenas on the planet. Since opening in 1997, it has welcomed over 30 million fans, delivering era-defining music moments and major sporting spectacles. State-of-the-art after a £50 million transformation, it now sets global standards for live events in Manchester.
The Role
This is a casual, event-based position, perfect for those seeking flexible work around other commitments. Shifts are available based on AO Arena’s live schedule across evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
As a Cocktail Bartender in The Mezz, you’ll craft premium drinks at speed, engaging guests during vibrant pre-show, interval, and post-show atmospheres. You’ll deliver classic cocktails, signature creations, and elevated non-alcoholic options across bar and restaurant service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and zero-proof drinks quickly and consistently during peaks and intervals.
- Provide guest service—take orders, make recommendations, and deliver warm, efficient hospitality; manage tabs and upsell premium pours and pairings.
- Uphold Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) regulations, including Challenge 25, and monitor guest consumption closely.
- Ensure bar readiness—stocking, prepping garnishes/ice, setting stations pre-event; maintaining cleanliness, glassware standards, and hygiene during service.
- Process payments accurately, manage tabs, and maintain till integrity.
- Collaborate with floor staff and servers for seamless dining experience, including VIP tables.
- Complete end-of-shift tasks, such as counts, wastage logs, cleaning, and restocking.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous cocktail bartending experience, with deep spirits knowledge.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in high-volume environments.
- A confident, guest-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of allergens and basic food safety practices.
- Availability to work flexible, casual shifts (evenings, weekends, event days).
- Enthusiasm for exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced live-events setting.

Recruitment Process
