Vacancy Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Business Unit of Leeds Community HealthCare NHS Trust. We are looking to recruit an experienced qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join the award-winning multi-disciplinary team which originated as the Long Covid Rehabilitation service, and has recently widened its referral criteria and rebranded as Leeds Multisystem Rehabilitation Service (LEMURS).

Successful candidates will provide assessment and delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy counselling and support to patients with long-term multisystem health conditions and significant difficulties with daily life functioning. These difficulties may arise from symptoms such as fatigue, widespread pain, brain fog, dizziness and others. 'Multisystem' refers to the fact that the diagnosis and symptoms do not fit neatly into a single body system. It is suitable for people who are ready to engage with a rehab-oriented approach. The service offers a holistic approach, often including pacing, sleep, mood, pain management, dysautonomia management and vocational help.

The team consists of a range of therapists and are supported by medical specialists from Cardiology, Respiratory and Rehabilitation Medicine for discussion and advice when needed.

You must be able to demonstrate you have an awareness and basic understanding of treating patients who are experiencing symptoms from a variety of multisystem conditions including Long Covid, Fibromyalgia and post viral fatigue conditions. You must be able to demonstrate that you have the ability and flexibility to work within an evolving service which is ever-changing to meet the rehabilitation needs of the people of Leeds. We are looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable, an individual who is a good team player. You should also have good communication skills both verbal and written.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
