Our technologies empower pet owners to better manage their pets’ health and well-being, while helping livestock producers improve animal well-being and production efficiency.

We are transitioning to a Product Operating Model, empowering cross-functional teams (Product Manager, Technology Lead, Product Designer, Delivery Lead, engineers, developers) to deliver customer-centric value with full accountability.

Leadership is shared between the Product Manager and Technology Lead, ensuring a balance of product vision and technical execution.
Role Summary
As the Collar Tech Lead, you will provide technical leadership for animal wearable devices (collars), covering the full lifecycle from concept to mass production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Guiding technical design, execution, and scalability for robust, manufacturable, and reliable agricultural devices
- Partnering with Product Manager, R&D, NPI, Operations, Customer Success, and manufacturing teams
- Technical decisions in architecture, system integration, validation, risk management, and launch support
Key Responsibilities
1. Collar Technical Strategy & Design
- Collaborate with the Collar Product Manager and cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions
- Lead architecture and system design covering: 🔹 Electronics & firmware 🔹 Mechanical design 🔹 Embedded software 🔹 RF communications 🔹 Integration & validation
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost constraints
- Align collar development with Core Platforms, avoiding duplication of responsibilities
- Evaluate feasibility, complexity, and risk of proposed changes
- Monitor collar-specific KPIs (e.g., field failure rates, installation success, battery life, unit cost) to guide trade-offs

2. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Engage with Customer Success, field teams, and end-users to identify pain points (installation, comfort, durability, reliability)
- Define experiments and trials for validation before full-scale implementation
- Collaborate with: 🔹 R&D functional managers & engineers 🔹 Product designers 🔹 NPI & Operations teams 🔹 Supply Chain & Customer Success
3. Validation, Quality, & NPI Readiness
- Balance speed-to-market with quality, robustness, and performance in harsh farm environments
- Partner with NPI and Operations for production launch, ramp-up, and mass production support
- Define validation strategies and technical acceptance criteria
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively
- Investigate field issues, resolve problems, and drive continuous improvement
- Stay updated on IoT, wearable technology, embedded systems, and industry trends
- Foster innovation while maintaining safety, reliability, and field performance
4. Performance & Accountability
- Own technical architecture and ensure customer outcomes are delivered
- Meet agreed performance targets (reliability, field failure rates, yield)
- Balance feasibility, reliability, manufacturability, and cost in engineering decisions
- Provide technical input for product decisions
Required Qualifications
- BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of technical leadership for hardware products in a multidisciplinary environment
- Minimum 5 years working in medium-to-large-scale companies
- Deep expertise in: 🔹 IoT architecture 🔹 Embedded systems 🔹 Hardware & mechanics 🔹 System integration & validation
- Experience developing mass-produced wireless IoT or wearable devices
- Full lifecycle product development experience (discovery → design → validation → mass production)
- Experience with global product teams, coordinating across multiple geographies
- Proven communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Passion for solving real customer problems and delivering measurable field outcomes
