Collateral Management - Assistant Vice President
Collateral Management Role – Profile Summary
The Collateral Management function, consisting of 3 FTE, manages all exposures arising from OTC, Repo, Structured Finance, ETD and SBL trading portfolios. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure counterparty credit risk mitigation for all of Mizuho’s collateralised agreements within a structured framework, with escalations handled per agreed processes and procedures to Senior Management and key stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of the aforementioned products, market regulations, and a proven track record in managing inherent credit risk and day-to-day exposures are essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively manage margin calls for OTC, Repo, SBL, ETD and Structured products, ensuring all agreed movements (both cash and securities) are captured in MHI systems.
- Ensure all payments/receipts are agreed and booked within prescribed deadlines.
- Coordinate the release of Triparty movement instructions to relevant custodians and verify their matching where applicable.
- Reconcile all disputes and escalate for resolution across relevant departments.
- Validate and reconcile cleared margin movements in internal systems daily.
- Monitor custodian systems to confirm security settlements align with expected activity.
- Process instructions for Affiliates in Repo and OTC Derivatives, both Cleared and Bilateral, based on daily handover files.
- Execute movements for Universal Bank-facing Open, Freely Available Liabilities, and Cleared and Bilateral trades, including cleared interest movements monthly.
- Follow-up on and escalate cash margin and security fails.
- Ensure all portfolios are reconciled and in line with counterparties.
- Agree interest payments on cash positions with counterparties, ensuring timely posting in accounting systems.
- Agree and process fee payments on fee-based borrow positions with counterparties, adhering to internal scheduling deadlines.
- Perform daily and monthly controls strictly within deadlines.
- Ensure RPA processes remain effective daily, promptly addressing and remediating errors.
- Adhere to daily control protocols.
- Escalate control fail incidents appropriately.
- Collaborate with technology teams to enhance inefficiencies or improve the control environment.
- Participate in firm-wide projects and initiatives as required.
- Undertake cross-training within Agency Lending and Cross-Product Collateral sub-teams, ensuring periodical role coverage.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Key Attributes
- Strong organisation, time management, and project handling abilities.

- Customer-centric background with hands-on operational experience.
Technical Knowledge & Product Expertise
- Detailed understanding of CSA, GMSLA & GMRA agreements.
- Practical experience with daily functions associated with OTC, ETD, Repo, and SBL.
- Solid knowledge of OTC Derivatives, Repo, or SBL products.
- Comprehension of regulatory frameworks including EMIR, uncleared margin rules, and Triparty initial margin processes.
