Collections Consultant (Permanent, Full Time)

We are looking for a customer-focused and proactive Collections Consultant to join our Collections Team in Hull.

As a Collections Consultant, you will manage your own portfolio of customers, engaging with customers to resolve outstanding balances, monitoring payment behaviours, and helping to prevent debt through early intervention.

This role is ideally suited to individuals with previous collections, credit control, debt management, financial services, or account-based customer service experience who are confident managing customer accounts and resolving outstanding balances.

Salary – £25,662 per annum fixed with £1,400 OTC

Location – Hull, Carr Lane, 2 days minimum office based

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritise a portfolio of customer accounts.
  • Monitor payment activity and identify overdue balances.
  • Contact customers to discuss and resolve outstanding payments.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and account information.
  • Review account history to identify appropriate solutions for customers.
  • Recommend accounts for write-off where appropriate.
  • Support credit checking activities for new customers.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve collection and service goals.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in collections, credit control, arrears management, debt recovery, financial services, or account-based customer service is essential.
  • Experience managing customer accounts and discussing outstanding balances with customers.
  • Confident handling challenging conversations and negotiating positive outcomes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage a portfolio of accounts effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate customer records.
  • Comfortable working to performance targets, KPIs, and service levels.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and customer account management tools.
