What you'll do.

Reporting to our Collections Team Leader, you'll join us as a Retail Collector, playing an important role in supporting customers who may be experiencing financial difficulties.

Every customer is different, so you'll take the time to understand their individual circumstances and have meaningful, empathetic conversations to find the right way forward. You'll help customers understand their options, agree appropriate solutions and take positive steps towards getting their account back on track.

This is a permanent role based in Newbury, working on a hybrid basis. During onboarding, you'll spend more time in the office as you settle into the role and get to know the team. You'll receive comprehensive training to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed and deliver an outstanding customer experience.

You'll Also

  • Manage credit control activities, including outstanding arrears, payment collections and payment arrangements
  • Proactively implement tailored strategies to support timely payments and positive customer outcomes
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Keep accurate records and ensure customer accounts are managed in line with agreed processes and timescales

What you'll bring.

You'll be a confident communicator who enjoys connecting with people and finding solutions. You'll have a genuine passion for delivering great customer service and the ability to handle potentially challenging conversations with empathy, professionalism and confidence.

You'll Be a Great Fit If You

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to have meaningful conversations with customers over the phone
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and a creative, solutions-focused mindset
  • Can stay organised and manage your own workload, while also being a great team player
  • Have strong attention to detail and take pride in getting things right
  • Have knowledge of collections or credit control processes and systems, or are keen to learn and develop your skills in this area
