About The Role
Be part of a once-in-a-generation transformation at the Natural History Museum. Backed by £202m, we’re building a cutting-edge science and digitisation centre at Thames Valley Science Park—moving over a third of our 80 million specimens to a new, purpose-built home.
As a Collections Technician (Large Objects), you’ll play a hands-on role preparing, packing, and moving some of the Museum’s most extraordinary specimens—from giant skeletons to preserved fossilised trees. You’ll design innovative storage and transport solutions, ensuring their safety through complex, large-scale moves.

About You
We’re looking for a practical, detail-oriented professional with strong hands-on skills and a passion for working with complex objects. You’ll bring proven experience delivering technical solutions for oversized objects —confident interpreting drawings, using workshop equipment, and working across materials such as wood, plastics and metals. Highly organised and accurate, you’re comfortable managing records, logs and inventories, and take pride in maintaining high standards of care.
A self-starter who works equally well independently and in a team, you follow procedures closely, meet targets, and prioritise safety—particularly when handling large or heavy items.
